Filling & Packaging Operator I

Position Summary

This role operates and maintains liquid filling and packaging line equipment—including setup, adjustments, documentation, and quality checks—while ensuring production goals, safety standards, and cGMP requirements are met. It also involves equipment troubleshooting, proper material handling, workspace sanitation, and occasionally training others under supervisor direction.

Hours: Monday - Friday 2pm-10:30pm (2nd shift) + overtime as needed
Hours may vary based on Union Bid System.

Pay: $23.53 (bi-weekly pay) + bonus

What You'll Do

• Daily set up and operation of the complete filling and packaging lines consisting of the sponges, pouches, vials, caps, labels, inkjet code dater and check weights in accordance with product requirements.
• Notify supervisor or other authorized personnel of the need for packaging supplies or other materials for the packaging line.
• Correct hose hookups and operating of control panels which control the flow of materials to packaging line.
• Meet production schedules as outlined by supervision and for keeping written and electronic records as required.
• Under the direction and monitoring of department supervisor, must be capable of training a replacement if required.
• Setup and minor maintenance of all filling line equipment and will assist maintenance as necessary.
• Perform proper palletization of finished or unfinished products and storing them in an appropriate location.
• Exercise extreme caution in order to not damage other material or property while operating moving equipment and must at all times exercise extreme caution for the safety of other employees.
• Proper filling, sealing, weighing, capping, casing labeling, and inkjet coding of all products.
• Setup and adjustment of equipment when changing over various size containers on the filling lines.
• Adjustment of weights for various size containers on the filling lines.
• Turning in a written/electronic record of daily production along with other appropriate documentation as required by management.
• Keeping equipment and surrounding work area neat, tidy and disinfected at all times.
• Marking production waste containers.
• Perform other duties as directed by Leads or Supervisors.

Required Skills, Abilities, Expereince

• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety warning labels, and machine instruction manuals.
• Basic math, writing and data entry skills.
• Preferred Knowledge of or experience working with liquid filling machinery, pumps, valves, piping and/or cGMP’s.
• Previous experience working in the chemical manufacturing or similar regulated industry.
• Drive to grow within an organization. Exemplary attendance.

May be expected to

• Move, carry, and lift approximately 60 pounds.
• Climb heights of approximately 10 feet.
• Stand for long periods of time.
• Good hand/eye coordination.
• Good peripheral vision, manual dexterity, able to read scales, dials and gages, able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
• Equipment listed (Specific Job Requirements) may be used as needed to assist in these Required Competencies:
• Automatic liquid filling machine, pumps, filters, scales, sealer, capper, valves, cap torquer, hoses
• Inkjet coding equipment and monitoring components to the line
• Making hook ups from different lines
• Routine mechanical adjustments to filling line equipment and during line change over; primemover.

PAY RATE

Pay rate for this opportunity is $23.53/hour. This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
