Filler Operator - 2nd Shift

About the role

As a Filler Operator, you will ensure optimum quality products by operating the filler for various product families while adhering to regulatory standards. You will maintain clean and sterile production environments, monitor equipment, and perform quality checks to meet specifications.

Responsibilities

• Order packaging materials (paper, poly, cartons) from storage as needed.
• Clean, set up, operate, and monitor production line equipment.
• Load packaging materials onto machines to prevent line stoppages.
• Complete required documentation and scheduled quality checks.
• Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of product.
• Perform net weight control checks and make equipment adjustments as needed.
• Adjust filler timing, filling, and check mats as required.
• Inspect packaging, coding, and seals for conformance to specifications and make necessary adjustments.
• Perform basic SERTI functions: Start of run, end of run, end of stacker.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
• Collect samples for Quality Assurance testing.
• Ensure proper packaging materials are used and complete log books as required.
• Operate labelers, monitor for jams, and thread wrap to prevent downtime.
• Perform filler and filler line changeovers safely and efficiently.
• Complete cleaning checklists after line runs and prepare equipment for the next run, including size changes.
• Communicate changes in product flow, equipment malfunctions, or deviations to supervisors, maintenance, or other operators.
• Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees regarding production efficiency.
• Ensure all paperwork is clear, legible, accurate, and completed per SOP requirements.
• Analyze process and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshooting.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement using a continuous improvement mindset.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
• Adhere to all work-safe practices, including wearing required PPE, safe chemical handling, and confined space safety.
• Ensure food safety, pre-requisite programs, and food quality in your designated area; report issues immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 6 months to 1 year of experience with filling equipment.
• Ability to operate SERTI effectively.
• Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to stand, walk, push, or pull for virtually the entire shift.
• Ability to raise arms above shoulder level, stoop, crouch, reach, and kneel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, including overhead.
• Ability to work in a wet environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must pass all fit-for-duty screens as applicable.

Pay

Competitive pay based on experience: $28.48–$35.35 per hour, with a $0.25 shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am.
