About the role
The position involves the supervision and instruction of the Learn to Skate, Academy Prep, and Figure Skating Academy programs under the Skating Director and the Assistant Ice Arena Manager. The role includes keeping accurate attendance records, developing lesson plans, evaluating and assessing skill levels and progress of all participants.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and instruct Learn to Skate, Academy Prep, and Figure Skating Academy programs
- Keep accurate attendance records
- Develop lesson plans
- Evaluate and assess skill level and progress of all participants
- Work flexible shifts ranging from morning to evening hours
- Available late afternoons/evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications vary based on experience level
- Previous figure skating coaching experience
- Knowledge of United States Figure Skating Basic Skills program format
- Congestion recognition training required prior to employment and must be renewed annually
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications preferred, required within 60 days of hire
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
Qualifications
- U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) Preliminary Singles test, Preliminary Skating Skills Test, or Bronze Ice Dance test for Figure Skating Instructor I
- U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) Bronze Singles test, Pre-Silver Skating Skills Test, or Pre-Silver Ice Dance Test for Figure Skating Instructor II
- U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) Gold Test in Singles, Skating Skills, Ice Dance, or Pairs, and U.S. Figure Skating Core Coach Certification for Figure Skating Instructor III
- U.S. Figure Skating Level 1 Coach Accreditation in one (1) specialized discipline for Figure Skating Instructor III
