Fifth Grade ELA Teacher - Soldiers Memorial Middle School

Literacy Instruction

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned lessons across all literacy domains: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language.
• Implement structured literacy and foundational skills instruction using high-quality instructional materials (HQIM).
• Adapt curriculum for diverse learners, including those in Tier II/III Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI²), students with IEPs/504 plans, English Learners, and advanced students.
• Use formative and summative assessments to measure student growth and adjust instructional strategies.
• Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and collaborative planning with grade-level teams and instructional coaches.
• Show strong knowledge of the Science of Reading framework, excellent verbal/written communication, and digital proficiency with tools like Google Workspace or regional Learning Management Systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensure: A valid Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsements (e.g., Elementary K-5, 4-8, or 6-8 ELA specialty).
• Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Other: Successful completion of state and federal background checks and E-Verify eligibility confirmation.
