Field Technician – Piedmont Triad / NC-VA Border
About the role
T-Mobile is seeking a motivated and skilled Field Technician to support our Engineering & Operations team in the Piedmont Triad and the North Carolina–Virginia border region. The main territory covers the northeastern part of the Winston-Salem market and the western part of the Greensboro market, including Madison and Eden, NC, and extends north to Martinsville, VA. On-call coverage stretches further outward, from Danville, VA in the northeast, to Asheboro, NC in the southeast, Statesville, NC in the southwest, and Sparta and Mount Airy, NC in the northwest.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to resolve network performance issues and contribute to outage resolution efforts
- Manage smaller projects or project segments, delivering accurate status and progress updates as required
- Identify and recommend process improvements related to maintenance and repair activities to senior staff and management
- Aid in developing job aids, scopes of work, and procedural documentation in collaboration with senior technicians
- Complete required training to maintain current knowledge of systems, products, and organizational standards

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree OR combination of education and experience deemed equivalent
- Acceptable areas of study include Vocational/Technical Training or related field
- 2-4 years Working experience in Field Operations and maintenance
- 2-4 years Wireless telecommunications or other related experience
Qualifications
- Electronics
- Practical knowledge and theory of all interconnecting circuits to include but not limited to RF transmitters, antenna systems, AAV, fiber, microwave radio and AC-DC power systems, and AI
- Radio Access Network (RAN) – Practical knowledge of RAN architecture, components, and operations, with the ability to support deployment, maintenance, and optimization activities
- Wireless Backhaul – Understanding of wireless backhaul technologies and configurations used to connect cell sites to the core network, including microwave and fiber-based solutions
- Licensed Microwave and millimeter-wave wireless transport technology – Ceragon and Ericsson experience is a plus
- 5G New Radio (NR) – Demonstrated experience with, or the ability to learn, Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment and 5G NR standards as they apply to field operations
- Base Station – Working knowledge of base station equipment, installation, configuration, and maintenance as it relates to network performance and reliability
- Continuous Development – Candidates are expected to actively grow their skills through ongoing training, certifications, and hands-on experience in an ever-evolving telecommunications landscape
- Disaster Recovery Planning – Familiarity with disaster recovery protocols and the ability to implement contingency plans to restore network services with minimal disruption
- Network Troubleshooting – Ability to systematically identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues across a range of hardware and software systems in both planned and emergency scenarios
- Project Management – Ability to plan, coordinate, and complete field assignments efficiently, managing time, resources, and priorities to meet deadlines and service commitments
- Technical Support – Ability to provide hands-on technical assistance and field-level support to internal teams and partners, ensuring timely resolution of equipment and network issues

- Computer Fluency – Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and similar productivity tools
- Ability to use fiber test, line and antenna test equipment

- Able to work both independently and in a team environment
