Field Technician - Low Voltage

Responsibilities

  • Maintain punctual attendance for all scheduled shifts, meetings, and job site commitments.
  • Present a professional appearance consistent with the work environment and customer expectations.
  • Perform skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of security systems, access control, AV systems, and structured cabling infrastructure.
  • Execute installation activities including rough-in, trim, termination, and final dressing of security and low-voltage cabling in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Install and support pathway systems including ladder rack, J-hooks, cable tray, racks, cabinets, and firestopping/fire penetrations.
  • Organize, route, and dress cabling in MDF/IDF environments, ensuring clean, consistent labeling and adherence to structured cabling standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, schematics, and line diagrams to support accurate installation and execution.
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system testing using established methodologies and tools.
  • Complete cable and fiber terminations including jacks, patch panels, and 66/110 blocks, with a high level of quality and consistency.
  • Conduct testing and validation of copper and fiber systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Document daily progress through notes, photos, and reporting tools in alignment with company requirements.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized job site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project and operational needs.

    Qualifications

    • 2+ year of experience in low-voltage systems, including security, access control, AV, or structured cabling.
    • Experience in data center environments is a plus, including familiarity with high-density cabling, pathways, and operational standards.
    • Hands-on experience with rough-in, trim, and final dressing of cabling systems preferred.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documentation.
    • Familiarity with industry-standard tools, equipment, and installation practices.
    • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
    • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Driving is a requirement for this position therefore A valid driver's license is required. The employee's motor vehicle record will be subject to the policies and provisions contained in the company's Fleet Safety Program.
    • First-Aid and CPR Certification a plus.
    • Manufacturer Certifications a plus.
    • Industry Certifications a plus.
