Field Technician, Leak Survey ( POV)
Since 1933, Heath Consultants has been a trusted leader in protecting communities through natural gas safety services. We are hiring motivated individuals to join our team as Leak Survey Technicians. No prior experience is required — we provide paid training and industry-recognized certifications.
About the role
As a Leak Survey Field Technician, you play a vital role in protecting life, property, and the environment. You will inspect natural gas systems, detect potential leaks using advanced equipment, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Your work directly supports public safety and environmental protection in the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Inspect natural gas distribution systems
- Travel extensively
- Conduct leak surveys using specialized detection equipment
- Accurately document findings and complete compliance reports
- Follow strict safety protocols and federal and local regulations
- Communicate professionally with homeowners and members of the public
Work Environment
This role is ideal for individuals who prefer being active rather than sitting behind a desk. You will:
- Walk approximately 4–7 miles per day
- Bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds
- Work in a variety of weather conditions
- Remain on your feet for extended periods
- Operate specialized gas detection equipment
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Ability to pass a DOT drug screen and background check
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop on varying terrain, and to lift heavy items
- Ability to walk 4–7 miles per day in all weather conditions
- Strong reliability and accountability
- Proficient using technology (smartphone, tablet)
- Ability to use simple hand tools
- Ability to read and understand utility maps
- Works well within a group as well as individually

- Customer service experience

Vehicle Program
At Heath, we support our team members who are on the move. Employees in this role participate in Heath’s Personally Owned Vehicle (POV) Program, which provides meaningful financial support for local travel.
- Weekly Vehicle Allowance — Approximately $185 per week (non-taxable for this position), paid every week alongside your regular paycheck (~$9,600 annually)
- $300 Monthly Fuel Card — A company fuel card for qualifying business fuel purchases, issued on your first day
- Telematics Device — Provided at no cost (non-camera GPS device to verify business mileage)
Vehicle Program Qualifications
- Active auto insurance — minimum $100,000/$300,000/$100,000 coverage or $300,000 combined single limit
- Proof of insurance provided before your first day and at each policy renewal
- A vehicle that meets Heath’s standards — 4-door, backup camera, hands-free capability, and professional appearance
- Willingness to have a Heath-provided telematics device installed in your vehicle
