Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing
Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician to join our Professional Services Industries Inc. About the role
Intertek's Building and Construction division provides innovative project solutions across multiple architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines. As a CMT Technician, you will perform testing, project-specific observations, and site assessments under direct supervision and from detailed controlled procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under general supervision.
- Operate testing equipment and conduct tests (e.g., soil, concrete) while providing data assessment through reporting.
- Work using drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
- Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
- Make detailed observations and provide limited interpretation of results.
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
- Calculate mathematical test results using a calculator.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and team safety.
Requirements
- Two years of construction materials testing experience.
- Basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
- Ability to read and understand work plans.
- Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make sound discriminations.
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
- Ability to climb occasionally.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Dedicated experience performing field and/or laboratory construction materials testing (preferred).
- ACI, ICC, or TNDOT certifications (preferred).
