Job Purpose

Promote good attitudes and aesthetics that represent WPI. Communicate with the lead technician on progress or any special circumstances that may affect the job. Promote safe work practices and ensure that JSA and all HSE requirements for the job are followed. Fill out detailed daily service ticket reports, review with the customer, and have them signed daily. Tag and turn in all warranty or core part items for processing immediately upon completion of the job, including all unit information (e.g., serial number, location, customer, engine hours).

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks as assigned by supervisor/management or lead technician.
  • Determine the best possible procedure to perform the job safely and effectively.
  • Perform GEW Service Bulletin upgrades as set by the factory.
  • Inspect own work at each step, checking tolerances and correct fit.
  • Demonstrate excellent productivity for the job task being performed.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement.
  • Work safely and maintain the work area with high standards of housekeeping.
  • Perform required Preventative Maintenance activities on machinery and/or equipment operated (e.g., air tools, air compressor, truck, and crane).
  • Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) of every job assigned and review with the crew.
  • Must own basic tooling for the position, including:
    • Open-end and boxed-end wrenches from 1/4" to 1".
    • 3/8" and 1/2" ratchet and socket sets.
    • Air impacts (3/8", 1/2").
    • Screwdriver sets.
    • Hammers and sledges.
    • A Fluke 87 volt-ohm meter (minimum).
  • Other duties as may be assigned by supervisor/management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working on Industrial Engines (gas/diesel, etc.).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Has attended and passed basic OEM Gas Engine Technology (GET) or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that complies with WPI insurance requirements.

Skills

  • Knowledge of OEM equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with tooling.
  • Basic mechanical principles and mathematics.
  • Ability to perform basic electrical diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (basic operation, Windows, and Microsoft Office).
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools.
  • Truck crane operation experience.
