Field Systems Engineer

About the Role

Serve as the primary technical responder for fleet issues, ensuring testing operations remain active through on-call support and rapid field triage. Manage software deployments, advanced diagnostics, and data acquisition for prototype and pre-production fleets.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-call support to maintain fleet uptime and respond to technical issues.
• Manage and execute deployment of software packages and ECU flashing operations across prototype and pre-production fleets.
• Utilize ETAS INCA and proprietary Hyundai diagnostic tools for ECU reprogramming, troubleshooting, and system fault investigation.
• Lead CAN/LIN/Automotive Ethernet traffic recording and analysis using Vector (CANalyzer/CANoe) or ETAS tools.
• Root-cause complex electrical and communication issues in vehicle systems.
• Travel to vehicle sites to perform on-site analysis of hardware/software malfunctions and collect diagnostic data for engineering teams in Michigan and Korea.
• Support permanent fix development through field data insights and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Work closely with the HATCI Project Manager to address recurring field issues and suggest process improvements for fleet maintenance operations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on vehicle engineering experience in EV or ADAS/Autonomous environments.
• Expert-level proficiency with ETAS INCA (ECU reprogramming and flashing) and Vector or ETAS tools for data logging.
• Deep understanding of CAN (Controller Area Network), LIN (Local Interconnect Network), and Automotive Ethernet.
• Strong familiarity with High-Voltage (HV) Electric Vehicle systems, power distribution architectures, and electronic control modules (ECMs).
• Proven ability to record, analyze, and interpret complex CAN traffic.
• Troubleshooting expertise in vehicle control systems, chassis systems, and electrical systems.
• Up to 40-70% travel to regional vehicle sites for on-site support and diagnostics.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
