About the role
Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, seeks a Supervisor for the Central Western Division. This position oversees utility workers, facility operators, and contractors, ensuring operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise team including utility workers, facility operators, and contractors
- Interview, hire, set high performance standards, and manage performance in accordance with HR policies
- Create an energized work environment, fostering trust and engagement
- Develop and coach staff while addressing performance issues
- Manage operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of remote well sites and wastewater systems
- Oversee day-to-day operations including scheduling and tracking work activities
- Work closely with other operational groups to share resources
- Manage distribution system and service departments for both in-house and contracted work
- Ensure all activities comply with company and regulatory agency standards
- Manage operations budget and assist engineering department with capital budget
- Prepare and monitor expense budgets, provide explanations of variances
- Work with engineering and senior management on capital project funding and completion
- Maintain databases supporting operations, including compliance-related activities
- Partner with engineering department to ensure construction projects meet company specifications
- Build and maintain partnerships with area public utilities, municipalities, and fire departments
- Represent company in meetings with township, county, and regulatory agencies
- Stay informed about regulations affecting the utility and operations
- Identify regulatory changes and make recommendations
- Perform other related activities as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, construction management, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience and knowledge in construction, budget administration
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years in a supervisory role
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years in a water or wastewater utility system
- Required NC water Class, B-Well and Wastewater Class II within 24 months of hire
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Working knowledge of main replacement practices and procedures
- Working knowledge of excavation and work zone safety
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Team player with multi-tasking ability
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- See, hear, talk, perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
- Travel to work sites up to 50% of work time
