Field Superintendent - Telecom/Security Systems

About the Role

This position works within the Construction department, reporting to the Electrical Project Superintendent and Electrical Construction Manager. The Telecom/Security Systems Field Superintendent will collaborate closely with other Superintendents and subcontractors, managing projects from start to finish. Responsibilities include supervising the low voltage electrical project team, scheduling, quality control, submitting RFIs, ensuring a safe work environment, and overseeing QA/QC programs. The role is based fully at the project site in Claude, TX.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day activities with other superintendents, low voltage electrical subcontractors, and other discipline subcontractors.
• Supervise multiple subcontractors and craft employees.
• Maintain and adjust the project schedule daily.
• Manage RFIs (requests for information) and submittal materials for review with the Client/Architect.
• Oversee cost control and QA/QC programs.
• Manage and abide by all safety protocols.
• Resolve design and constructability issues using technical expertise.
• Respond to customer/client requests and develop solutions to problems.
• Interpret and implement proper installations in compliance with local authority permitting codes and site specifications.
• Provide supporting information regarding field conditions and scope for cost estimates.
• Facilitate contractor activity to ensure performance by all contractual agreements.
• Assist with project staffing management.
• Work closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of low voltage electrical construction experience.
• Extensive experience on large industrial or high-tech fabrication projects preferred.
• OHSA 30 Certification.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience preferred.
• Education background in materials and methods of low voltage electrical construction.

Skills

• Thorough understanding of all aspects of low voltage electrical construction.
• Familiarity with low voltage distribution, UPS equipment, electrical installations on large mechanical and process equipment, and cleanroom environments.
• Experience organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method.
• Familiarity with CSI specification system for construction.
• Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
• General understanding of working within a computer network.
• Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
• Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
• Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory, and techniques.
• Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
• Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to work closely with a variety of trade and craft people in a field work situation; patience and professionalism are essential.
• Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across departments and leadership levels.
• Flexible work schedule to accommodate extended hours or off-shift work due to changing construction schedules.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday involves a combination of being stationary and moving about the work location.
• Climbing: Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces.
• Hands/Arms: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Frequently operates machinery and uses hands/fingers and legs to inspect, place, and position materials.
• Sight: Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in an outdoor environment. Must safely operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license.
• Hearing: Must work in proximity to loud equipment more than 75% of the time and wear hearing protection as necessary. Must communicate effectively in office and job site settings.
• Speech: Ability to communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope in English.
• Lift/Carry: Must lift or manipulate 50 pounds to a height of 3 feet and carry or push it 50-100 feet.
• Bending/Twisting: Frequent bending and twisting required.
• Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Must regularly position self in kneeling, crouching, or crawling positions to examine project work.
• Must use independent judgment, organizational, and problem-solving skills to determine the best methods for desired results.

Pay

Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 DOE + 12% geo-uplift, per diem, and incentives.
