This role focuses on Hybrid/Cloud and Managed Services (CMS) opportunities, including Large Retail Colocation. You’ll provide pre-sales technical expertise to the National Sales Team, engaging directly with prospects to architect complete cloud, managed, and hybrid solutions that meet application, performance, and budgetary needs.
Responsibilities
- Attend qualified sales calls and customer meetings (travel required) to architect Cloud, Managed Services, and Hybrid (Colocation) solutions for new-logo customers.
- Conduct highly consultative customer interactions, analyzing requirements and designing custom solutions based on functionality and performance.
- Support national sales teams—with regional affinity—by producing technical drawings, designs, and narratives that articulate the business impact of recommended solutions.
- Stay current on all product offerings, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
- Create complete, accurate documentation for handoff to Implementation upon deal closure.
- Develop and formally present complex CMS/Hybrid solution designs to potential customers.
- Ask open-ended questions to uncover critical business drivers and gather data needed to formulate solutions.
- After assessment, generate quotes and present solutions highlighting Flexential’s benefits and capabilities.
- Conduct regional data-center tours as needed.
- Perform ad-hoc implementation support and transfer knowledge to post-sale resources.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- 8–15 years of industry experience in sales, consulting, or sales engineering.
- Proven ability to design and explain solutions to both business and technical audiences.
- Technical, team-oriented mindset with a track record of success in managed IT services.
- Ability to translate complex technical issues into non-technical solutions that address business needs.
- Solid understanding of multi-tier, highly available cloud-based web applications and architecture methodologies.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and driven with excellent communication and presentation skills.
- High-energy, positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and ability to build customer rapport.
- Persistent yet pragmatic; adaptable to change.
- Strong working knowledge of data-center infrastructure components.
- Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms and hypervisor technologies (e.g., VMware, AWS, Hyper-V, Azure, Google Compute Platform).
- Strong working knowledge of x86 enterprise server hardware and operating systems (Windows, Linux, and other viable OS).
- Working knowledge of MySQL, MS-SQL, and Oracle database environments, including high-availability deployments.
- Depth of knowledge in SANs and designing storage for performance and capacity requirements.
- Depth of knowledge in firewalls, load balancers, and switches.
- Working knowledge of data-center and IT security best practices.
- Understanding of disaster-recovery best practices and ability to connect technical solutions to business impact in failover scenarios.
- Self-directed, self-motivated, and accomplishment-oriented with a drive to succeed.
- Quick on your feet—able to address challenges during sales conversations and produce complex solutions and documentation rapidly and accurately.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced business environment.
- Ability to work in an office environment and remotely with sufficient workspace, cell connectivity, and reliable internet.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard and mouse for extended periods.
- After-hours networking and customer interaction required.
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurance.
Pay
- Base pay range: $185,000 – $215,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and qualifications.
- Eligible for commission with an expected annual target of $50,000 – $60,000 based on performance.
Schedule
- Hybrid (Tuesday & Wednesday in-office) for candidates near Dallas, TX; Louisville, KY; or Nashville, TN data-center locations.
- Remote candidates residing in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, or Michigan may also be considered.
