About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Services Technician to provide technology support for job sites in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in installing and maintaining various technology systems, including network infrastructure, cellular and internet connectivity, and other technology-related services essential for construction projects. This position requires travel to job sites across the country to set up and support field tech systems.
Responsibilities
- Installation & Setup of Technology Infrastructure:
- Install and terminate copper and fiber cables, ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry best practices.
- Configure and set up computer systems, servers, and workstations for on-site use. Install printers, projectors, and other technical devices.
- Set up and configure remote conference rooms and training centers.
- Install routers, switches, and access points to create reliable on-site networks.
- Implement cellular and internet solutions for job site connectivity, including mobile hotspots, modems, antennae systems, and other mobilization equipment.
- Distribute and confirm on-site mobility assets to validate setup, connectivity, and functionality.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and industry regulations, especially when handling electrical installations and equipment.
- Technology Support & Troubleshooting:
- Identify and resolve technical issues related to connectivity and equipment malfunctions at construction job sites, both on-site and remotely.
- Provide ongoing support for systems and devices, performing software updates, hardware replacements, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose and resolve network disruptions, including Wi-Fi, cellular, and Ethernet connections.
- Collect and recover on-site assets at completion of job site work or as needed.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Liaise with technology vendors and service providers for equipment installation, repair, and support.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, service issues, and resolutions. Provide detailed reports of field activities and project progress to management.
- Nationwide Travel & On-Site Work:
- Travel regularly to construction job sites across the country, adapting to varying work environments and conditions.
- Perform hands-on technical work at multiple job sites, managing tasks efficiently and independently.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise:
- Experience installing on-site infrastructure hardware and equipment.
- Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting wired and wireless network infrastructure, including Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
- Experience with technology systems such as security cameras, access control systems, and construction-related hardware.
- Strong understanding of internet and cellular connectivity solutions, including mobile hotspots, routers, modems, and antenna installation.
- Problem Solving Skills:
- Proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Quick-thinking and adaptable when troubleshooting connectivity issues, whether on-site or remotely.
- Critical thinking to assess when issues should be escalated.
- Physical Abilities:
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment (up to 30 lbs.).
- Comfortable operating in a wide range of construction environments, including outdoors, in various weather conditions, and at heights.
- Travel Readiness:
- Prepared to travel nationwide, including overnight stays and short-term time away from home.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying travel schedules and demands of frequent travel.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation for consistent access to job sites.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications, is qualifying.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Cisco products and hardware such as routers, switches, and Access Points.
- Experience installing and setting up satellite internet such as Starlink.
- Prior experience in the construction industry or with construction-related technology support.
- Certifications in network installation (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco).
- Experience with cloud-based services, security systems, and remote monitoring tools.
- Experience managing remote technology solutions for multiple job sites.
- Ability to adapt to different job site conditions and schedules, including working weekends or non-traditional hours as needed.
Pay
Salary range: $28.00/hour to $36.00/hour. Final determination of starting pay will vary based on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
