Field Service Technician - Wall township, NJ

About the role

TRG is seeking a skilled Field Technician to troubleshoot, diagnose, disassemble, evaluate, and repair wastewater pumps, booster pumps, and other rotating equipment at customer locations. This field-based role is hands-on and essential to ensuring operational reliability for our municipal, industrial, and commercial clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing, inspection, equipment startups, and operating performance evaluations on centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
• Replace packing, mechanical seals, bearings, and components in pumps, motors, blowers, generators, and related equipment.
• Conduct precision alignment of motors and pumps.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, disassemble, and repair rotating equipment including pumps, motors, and mechanical systems.
• Evaluate pump systems to determine cause of failure, equipment condition, and necessary repairs.
• Assist with removal and reinstallation of pumps and equipment at customer sites.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on customer equipment.
• Document detailed information on work orders including pump data, motor data, failure analysis, required parts, and service notes.
• Follow job site safety standards and maintain a clean, safe working environment.

Requirements

• Experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, or rotating equipment preferred.
• Ability to replace seals, bearings, packing, and mechanical components.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance and field service repair processes.
• Experience using a CRM or service database preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA job site safety requirements.
• Valid driver’s license required for field-based work.
• Mandatory pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to work independently at customer sites.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Schedule

• Full time, onsite, field-based role
• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
• Overtime and on-call shifts may be required based on customer needs
• Travel to customer sites required
