About the role

The Field Service Technician will install and maintain processing and packaging machinery for food manufacturers. This role requires strong electro-mechanical skills, mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge, and practical application of these principles.

Responsibilities

  • Apply troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical skills to install and maintain processing & packaging machinery.
  • Analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot to isolate problems, and determine actions needed to restore system to performance specifications.
  • Engage with customers on site to share information and keep them apprised of corrective actions and equipment status.
  • Provide preventive maintenance and on-site equipment repair.
  • Travel 80% (Mon-Fri) initially, reducing to 60-70% after training, with occasional travel to the islands.
  • Read diagrams, schematic drawings, engineering specifications and service manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Participate in new projects to install or improve the safety and performance of existing and new equipment.

Requirements

  • Five (5) plus years of maintenance experience, including servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of electro-mechanical automated machinery.
  • Experience with maintenance, installation, service, and diagnosing issues/repairs on automated food processing and packaging machinery.
  • Advanced knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic power systems, conveyor systems, or control systems.
  • Initiative, critical thinking, complex problem solving, judgement and decision making, persistence, attention to detail, adaptability, flexibility, concern for others, and leadership.
  • Travel 60-70% (Mon-Fri) during training, then 60-70% after training, with occasional travel to the islands.
  • Food Processing or Packaging Machinery experience is desired.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish skills are desired.

  • Physical Demands: Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods on airplane or in an auto to reach job destinations.
  • Must be able to have manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools required on the job.
  • Must be able to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
