About the role
POWERX is seeking a Field Service Technician (NETA 2) to perform basic electrical inspections, tests, and measurements, and to collect data. The role involves setting up and removing test equipment, conducting acceptance and maintenance testing, and maintaining clean work areas. The technician will work under limited supervision and should be knowledgeable about hazardous electrical energy procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform acceptance and maintenance electrical testing under limited supervision, including testing for de-energized locked out/tagged out equipment and collecting and recording test data accurately.
- Assist in setting up and removing test equipment for various testing activities, ensure proper handling and storage, and maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
- Write detailed reports on test results and findings, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Perform basic electrical measurements under the guidance of senior technicians and report measurement data accurately.
- Co-lead projects and team members, sharing responsibilities with lead technicians for project success from start to finish, including final report to client.
Requirements
- Must have a satisfactory background check and pass pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug tests.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Basic understanding of electrical theory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal and social skills, with excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and attention to detail.
Experience and Education
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college or trade school preferred.
- NETA certification level 2 preferred.
- 2+ years of experience.
- OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED, and Power DB training a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must wear appropriate and mandated PPE including arc-flash suit, safety glasses, hard hat, respirator, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, etc.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, pull, push, sit, and work in a cramped or confined space.
- Potential low exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
