About the role
Intermediate-level position responsible for operational compression jobs, including direct operation of compressor packages, gas processes, and rental equipment. Provides feedback for developing location operating policies and material forecasts for assigned units. Has intermediate diagnostic and repair skills and may assist other field positions.
Responsibilities
- Directs, coordinates, and performs job activities consistent with Kodiak’s procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Troubleshoots complex repairs, major equipment overhauls, and operations.
- Builds and maintains customer relationships.
- Analyzes job parts and supply inventory to communicate effectively with Supply Chain, ensuring sufficient parts for optimal performance.
- Takes corrective actions to ensure 98% or better mechanical availability of equipment.
- Attends and participates in all HSE meetings; adheres to HSE protocols.
- Maintains assigned units in a clean and presentable condition.
- Completes reports and actions required by area operating procedures/policies.
- Provides 24/7 coverage, including overtime, on-call rotations, weekends, and holidays.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred: OEM, Trade School, or 2+ years of comparable work experience in a related field/industry.
- Successful completion of Kodiak’s Short Service Employee (SSE) program, plus 1–2 years in an entry-level Field Technician role.
- 3+ years of compression process, production, and equipment-related experience and/or training.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Advanced knowledge of compressor packages, including components, systems, and mechanics of motor compressors (Waukesha, Ariel, Caterpillar, etc.).
- Working knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Valid Driver’s License with Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within acceptable parameters of Company Policy.
- Preferred certifications: Cat, Waukesha, Ariel.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands
- Operation of heavy equipment.
- Standing for up to 75% of the time; sitting for up to 25%.
- Climbing ladders or stairs to inspect, repair, and paint equipment; maintaining balance without assistance.
- Communicating and responding to coworkers, customers, and emergency cues/alarms in person, by telephone, and via mobile devices.
- Frequent lifting of at least 10 pounds; infrequent lifting of over 50 pounds.
- Exposure to high noise environments (>85 dBA) requiring ear protection.
- Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Moving and maintaining various positions (stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl) in tight or confined spaces.
- Wearing required PPE: fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment (copier, printer, telephone, etc.).
