About the role
As a Field Service Technician II at Doble Engineering, you will provide maintenance and technical support for Doble equipment at customer locations, including domestic and international sites. This role involves identifying and troubleshooting malfunctions, conducting scheduled repairs, and developing detailed service reports to document service visits and maintenance activities. Based in Accident, MD, you will report to the Service Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform independent on-site analysis and repair of high voltage, high current test equipment.
- Troubleshoot system faults on relay, PLC, and microprocessor-controlled equipment.
- Remove and replace system components to accomplish repair.
- Modify Programmable Logic Controller programs under the direction of the assigned Automation Engineer.
- Operationally check equipment after repair for serviceability.
- Conduct on-site calibration and preventative maintenance using voltage and current supplies, kilovoltmeters, multi-meters, potential transformers, current transformers, and other equipment.
- Perform preventative inspection and basic lubrication of equipment.
- Deliver practical, on-the-equipment training and answer questions about equipment operation.
- Provide training certificates to customers.
- Prepare and deliver quotations for customer service requests, custom parts, upgrades, and stock parts/services.
- Provide telephone support to assist customers with troubleshooting, repair, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
- Interact directly with customers to discuss equipment configuration, maintenance status, and scheduling.
- Make decisions regarding the replacement of faulty stock components on delivered test equipment.
- Implement system modifications after approval from Service or Design Engineer.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent training.
- 1–3 years of related experience.
- Proficient use of electrical test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and signal generators.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to professionally communicate with customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers.
- Experience with high voltage, high current test equipment.
- Experience with Partial Discharge Systems.
- Familiarity and comfort with international travel; passport required.
Skills
- Ability to travel to worldwide locations; passport required.
- Ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, and communicate orally and in writing with clients, co-workers, and customers.
- Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds; assistance required for lifting 50 or more pounds.

Pay
Hourly pay range: Minimum $23.40 – Midpoint $29.25. Actual base salary offered will be determined based on work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant education or training experience.
