About the role
ENGEL Machinery North America is seeking a Service Technician to perform work remotely at customer sites, installing and servicing injection molding equipment, providing customer training and support, and troubleshooting issues.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair injection molding machines and robots, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic or software components; conduct tests and calibrations to optimize performance.
- Perform software and hardware installations on equipment.
- Conduct all safety checks on equipment.
- Educate customers on equipment operation and provide training.
- Manage resolution of customer issues, including ordering and installing replacement parts as necessary.
- Diagnose problems with control systems, order replacement parts, and develop organized approaches to solving machine issues.
- Instruct other Service Technicians and/or customer operators on maintenance and safe operations of injection molding systems.
- Communicate regularly with Central Service, Manufacturing, and Parts Center to resolve field issues.
- Provide written reports to the Service Manager on a regular basis.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (required); Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in injection molding troubleshooting, processing, or as a Field Service Injection Molding Technician/Service Engineer.
- Knowledge of blueprints and schematics to troubleshoot electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with injection molding machines and a well-rounded skill set in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and computer systems.
- Ability to provide basic training for customers and employees.
- Understanding of the injection molding process and systematic troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of microprocessor programming.
- Familiarity with materials such as PET, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Styrene, and other common plastics.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and strong customer service orientation.
- Tact and diplomacy to handle difficult or unhappy customers.
- Dedicated team player with a positive attitude.
- Familiarity with ENGEL machines and robots (preferred).
- Ability to work independently with minimal back-office support.
- Valid Passport and driver’s license in good standing (including REAL-ID).
