About the Opportunity

The Field Service Technician role is responsible for installing, servicing, and training on general-purpose and customer-specific industrial packaging equipment. This position ensures operational efficiency and safety of equipment used in transit packaging by providing technical support and maintenance services. It is critical to maintaining effective customer relationships and supporting the organization's service operations through accurate documentation and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation and on-demand or scheduled service for packaging equipment.
  • Travel daily by vehicle with frequent overnight stays.
  • Adhere strictly to safety regulations and complete required safety training.
  • Document service activities and expenses accurately.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Provide technical support and training to technicians.
  • Manage service call schedules and ensure completion.
  • Conduct pre-installation meetings and site inspections.
  • Report unsafe conditions and suggest improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, management, and engineering.
  • Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC).
  • Identify upgrade and retrofit opportunities.
  • Design and deliver training programs for repair and maintenance.
  • Prepare reports and service bulletins.
  • Assist with inventory and parts sourcing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or technical/college degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • PLC knowledge is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Professional courses in electrical, mechanical, or automation fields are desirable.

Pay

  • Hourly wage ranges from $36 to $40, varying by responsibilities and location.
  • Starting rate based on experience, qualifications, and skillset.
