About the Role

Field Service Technicians at MI Conveyance Solutions provide the highest levels of mechanical service to meet customer needs, including repairing and installing conveyor belts, maintaining mechanical equipment, and responding to emergency call-outs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs on-site belt installation, splicing, and preventative maintenance, including emergency repairs.
  • Fabricates lightweight and heavyweight belts in-shop.
  • Performs rigging to lift belt rolls, presses, and tooling on and off conveyor systems.
  • Handles basic millwright tasks such as torch heating, cutting, and installing/removing conveyor components (bearings, idlers, pulleys, gearboxes, motors).
  • Serves as the primary customer contact for technical and service-related issues.
  • Installs, diagnoses, repairs, and supports equipment at customer sites.
  • Assesses equipment problems, documents findings, and decides on repairs or replacements.
  • Keeps customers informed about service progress, outstanding issues, and recommends system enhancements or upgrades.
  • Provides technical support and training to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of equipment.
  • Communicates technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Performs on-site services for new and existing clients, including emergency repairs, servicing, and upgrades on a 24/7 on-call basis.
  • Ensures compliance with local and national regulatory agencies and Motion’s safety standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a technical degree and 0 to 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
  • Ability to read measuring equipment and perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment, manlifts, forklifts, hand power tools, and other equipment safely.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with customers, peers, and management.
  • Willingness and ability to drive company vehicles in alignment with Company policy within one year of start date (DOT preferred).
  • Must comply with company drug-free workplace and other customer regulatory requirements.

Physical Demands

  • Push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Lift/carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Lift bulky objects.
  • Perform tasks requiring neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, ladder climbing, and crawling.
  • Work at heights from manlifts, platforms, and elevated walkways.
  • Wear safety equipment and harnesses.
  • Work indoors and/or outdoors with potential exposure to loud noise levels.
