About the role
Field Service Technicians at MI Conveyance Solutions provide the highest levels of mechanical service to meet customer needs, including conveyor belt repair, installation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment to keep industries operational.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site belt installation, splicing, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs.
- Fabricate lightweight and heavyweight belts in-shop.
- Perform rigging to lift belt rolls, presses, and tooling on and off conveyor systems.
- Execute basic millwright tasks such as torch heating, cutting, and removal/installation of conveyor components (bearings, idlers, pulleys, gearboxes, motors).
- Serve as the primary customer contact for technical and service-related issues.
- Install, diagnose, repair, and support equipment at customer sites.
- Assess equipment problems, document findings, and decide on repair or replacement of parts.
- Keep customers informed about service progress, outstanding issues, and recommend system enhancements or upgrades.
- Provide technical support and training to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of equipment.
- Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Perform on-site services for new and existing clients, including emergency repairs, equipment servicing, and upgrades on a 24/7 on-call basis.
- Ensure compliance with local and national regulatory agencies and Motion’s safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Typically requires a technical degree and 0–3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
- Ability to read measuring equipment and perform basic math calculations.
- Ability to operate shop equipment, manlifts, forklifts, hand power tools, and other equipment safely (training provided).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with customers, peers, and management.
- Willingness and ability to drive company vehicles in alignment with Company policy within one year of start date (DOT preferred).
- Must comply with company drug-free workplace and customer regulatory requirements.
Physical Demands
- Push/pull up to 100 pounds.
- Lift/carry up to 100 pounds.
- Lift bulky objects.
- Perform tasks requiring neck/trunk rotation, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward/overhead reaching, ladder climbing, and crawling.
- Work at heights from manlifts, platforms, and elevated walkways (safety harness required).
- Work indoors and/or outdoors with potential exposure to loud noise levels.
