Field Service Technician
About the role
The George E. Booth Co. is a family-owned and operated industrial automation sales company and major distributor of industrial process control instrumentation products and related services to customers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee, founded in 1963. We are looking to hire a full-time Field Service Technician for candidates in and surrounding the Central Illinois areas.
Responsibilities
- Successfully provide start-up of new units, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and maintenance of industrial process control instrumentation products and analytical devices, as well as gas detection and valves
- Actively diagnose root cause of equipment problems and develop permanent solutions for customers
- Read and interpret technical documentation and interpret or prepare technical summaries in both written and oral communication
- Understand applications and products in all facets of level, pressure, flow, temperature, and analytical instrumentation
- Transmit technical information in an instructional manner to customers and teammates both formally and informally
- Self-start and negotiate sales of product lines and additional services in the field (desired)
- Work with hands, hand tools, calibration, and general testing equipment
- Provide timely submission of mandatory reporting on field service reports, calibration certifications, timesheets, business expenses, etc.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Perform all other duties assigned by Management
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' related experience
- Associate degree in technical field or equivalent work experience
- Must be willing to travel with occasional overnights (50%) and have a clean driving record
- Technical competency with industrial process control systems and familiarity with applications in Food & Beverage, Chemical, Water/Wastewater, or a GMP environment
- Basic computer skillset and willingness to learn new technical platforms
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision and in a team environment
- Ability to carry loads up to 50lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb
Work environment
While performing duties, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate. This position may require sitting at a computer workstation for long periods. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
