HOLT Industrial Systems is seeking an experienced Air Compressor Field Service Technician for our New Braunfels, Texas office. The Field Service Technician performs field support activities, including start-up, preventive, and corrective maintenance within the assigned territory. Experience with Sullair Air Compressors is required. Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. This is a permanent full-time position.

About the Role

The selected candidate will have air compressor repair experience, knowledge, and skills for effective utilization of related equipment and proven troubleshooting processes. The incumbent is expected to model the following practices daily:

Responsibilities

  • Perform field support activities, including start-up, preventive, and corrective maintenance of air compressors
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all components and brands of air compressors, including large electrical, centrifugal, oil-free, and reciprocal piston equipment
  • Use multimeters, amp meters, vibration and infrared meters, and megger for diagnostics and repairs
  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&I drawings, ID/GA drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, cleaning, and setting controls
  • Set up rigging equipment and safely remove/reinstall motors, compressors, and associated components
  • Safely use hand tools and power tools (e.g., drill motors, grinders, band saws)
  • Understand and service high-pressure drill packages, hydraulic and pneumatic principles, and cooling towers
  • Assist in manufacturing skid packages for the oil field
  • Install and manage data loggers, understanding system requirements and device locations
  • Troubleshoot and maintain diesel compressors for the rental fleet
  • Understand and service air treatment systems, including regenerative and refrigerated dryers
  • Install and maintain piping systems (e.g., copper, black, aluminum, galvanized, Transair piping)
  • Understand electrical and electronic systems, including microprocessors, VSD, PLCs, timers, phase monitors, and various starting configurations (Star/Triangle, Soft Starters, Direct Starters, Variable Speed, Wye-Delta)
  • Complete paperwork daily and provide on-call response during the assigned week
  • Adhere to OSHA safety requirements and company/customer safety standards

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical and mechanical industrial compressor experience
  • Experience with Sullair Air Compressors; Sullair factory-certified level one (minimum) preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair all brands of air compressors, including large electrical, centrifugal, oil-free, and reciprocal piston equipment
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools (multimeters, amp meters, vibration/infrared meters, megger)
  • Knowledge of customer equipment operations and ability to read/interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic principles, cooling towers, and water quality management
  • Experience with air treatment systems (regenerative dryers, refrigerated dryers a plus)
  • Technical understanding of electrical/electronic systems, including PLCs, VSDs, and various motor starting configurations
  • Ability to install and maintain piping systems (e.g., Transair piping, fittings, anchors)
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (no serious offenses)
  • Must own required tools, meters, and refrigeration equipment to complete assigned jobs
  • High school diploma preferred; professional technical institutional training a plus
  • Ability to undergo a background check
  • Oil field safety experience is a plus
  • EPA certifications with Freon experience are a plus
  • Spanish-speaking ability is a plus

Schedule

Permanent full-time position, hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM. Some weekends will be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lb
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Ascends/descends ladders and equipment using both hands and feet
  • Ability to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions
  • Visually inspects work and equipment

Work Environment

  • Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts; noise level may be loud
  • Exposure to weather extremes (inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity)
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
  • Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
  • Travel required with a possibility of overnight stays
