Field Service Tech Trainee - Greensboro, NC

About the Role

Perform duties to install and calibrate Coordinate Measuring Machines, Form Products, and Quick Vision Systems. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair assigned products. This position involves a training program where the trainee will be prepared for the role of Field Service Technician. After successful completion of a 3-6 month training program (with weekends at home) and passing an internal audit, the trainee will work onsite independently. If performance meets expectations, the trainee will be promoted to Field Service Technician.

This role requires 100% travel Monday through Friday, including overnight stays, within a 450-mile radius of your home. Some travel may require air transportation. A reliable vehicle is required, and a $700 monthly car allowance plus reimbursed gas is provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform installations, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of assigned product group(s).
• Promote the sale of customer service agreements as appropriate.
• Maintain daily contact with headquarters per Mitutoyo America Corporation Field Service (MACFS) standard operating procedures (SOP), including daily schedule checks and reporting start/stop times.
• Maintain contact with customers in accordance with scheduled jobs per MACFS SOP.
• Train end users in proper preventive maintenance procedures for equipment as required.
• Complete and submit all required paperwork weekly, including work orders, calibration reports, time/activity reports, expense reports, and other documentation.
• Email all completed work orders and calibration data to MACFS within 24-72 hours of job completion.
• Maintain equipment in good working condition per MACFS procedures, ensuring calibration standards have up-to-date certificates and stickers.
• Perform interim checks and forward results to the office monthly.
• Maintain good customer relations and inform management of potential issues, including complaints or software/hardware problems.
• Perform duties in accordance with MACFS quality management system to ensure integrity, competence, confidentiality, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain an up-to-date parts inventory, properly charging for parts on work orders, and promptly returning unused or defective warranty parts with proper documentation.
• Conform with all compliance issues related to calibration as instructed by management.

Requirements

• Education equivalent to four years of college.
• Two years of relevant experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must be a U.S. Person (LPR or U.S. Citizen).
• Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs, with frequent bending, squatting, and reaching.
• Must be able to independently secure and utilize business travel accommodations, including rental vehicles.

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM. Up to 100% travel, including overnight stays and up to 8 hours of daily driving.
