About the role

This position performs complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer facilities. Tasks include electrical testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs to electrical apparatus. Responsibilities also involve troubleshooting, training, establishing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), interacting with customers, report writing, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and write diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
  • Lead tasks such as Transformer Testing, Cable Testing, Circuit Breaker Testing, and Test both electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays.
  • Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Plan, participate, and develop safety meetings and training.
  • Support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.

Requirements

  • Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, while utilizing excellent judgement.
  • Doble DTAF and Power DB knowledge is preferred; training will be provided.
  • Demonstrated ability to be consistently on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.
  • Organizational skills to include on time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Responsibility to keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations.

Schedule

Corporate business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm. Depending on the scope of works, hours outside of business hours may be required.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR training.
