Field Service Preventative Maintenance Technician

Principal Responsibilities And Duties

• Safely operate a Class C service body type truck on public roadways, on and off road on customer jobsites in all types of weather and lighting conditions.
• Responsible for keeping the company truck and work site safe, clean, well maintained, and stocked appropriately.
• Record maintenance and repair work performed by completing necessary paperwork in a timely and detailed manner.
• Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and failure analysis on components and systems.
• Perform equipment inspections to identify potential problems and safety concerns such as abuse, defects, and wear.
• Perform basic welding as necessary where applicable based on skill, knowledge and/or qualifications.
• Maintain parts and supplies needed for job completion.
• Maintain a culture of safety, participate in all safety meetings, and having knowledge of and obeying all branch and jobsite safety requirements and practices.
• Must be able to interact with customers while representing a high level of customer service.
• Perform other service and maintenance related duties as assigned.

Basic Knowledge & Competencies

• Excellent customer service skills
• Basic knowledge or training in automotive, diesel, equipment repair.
• Familiarity with machinery and/or equipment used in construction, distribution, or manufacturing industry a plus.
• Proficient mechanical aptitude, technical knowledge, problem-solving & efficient time management skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented.

Previous Experience/Education

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Mechanical or trade school certificate preferred.
• 3 months + experience in equipment repair or related industry preferred.
• Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, lifting, twisting, and bending on a frequent basis.
• Must be able to safely navigate and walk customer jobsites.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Work in outside conditions in both cold and heat climates.
