Field Service Foreman

Clean Harbors in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Field Service Foreperson to join our safety-conscious team. This role involves direct supervision of Field Technicians in emergency response, hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting safely at all times
• Train and mentor Field Service Technicians
• Execute projects/jobs within budget and on time
• Enforce and ensure OSHA, EPA, and H&S standards or regulations are compliant
• Work with the Coordinator to communicate manpower, equipment, and resources required for field service and emergency response projects
• Manage large-scale field service and emergency response projects when directed
• Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects
• Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools and powered industrial tools, and work with vibration-producing tools
• Wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection
• Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
• Work in atmospheres with potential exposure to hazardous, toxic, or corrosive chemical and physical agents
• Work in elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and at heights (ladders, scaffolding)
• Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters
• Climb ladders, scaffolding, and enter/exit trucks, tanks, and containers
• Work extended hours (> 8 hrs.) as needed
• Attend compliance and safety update meetings
• Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance
• Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste
• Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling
• Complete associated paperwork (worksheets, vehicle inspections, equipment inspections, permits)
• Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements
• Observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
• On-call for emergency response on a rotating basis (every other week)
• Perform site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handle hazardous materials
• May perform lead responsibilities

Requirements

• Previous experience in a physically intensive role
• Previous experience in a supervisory, crew lead, or leadership role
• Ability to travel for extended periods (up to 2 weeks at a time, with hotel and per diem provided)
• Ability to be on-call for emergency response
• Valid Driver’s license
• Perform physical functions per job requirements
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical (by position)
• Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees must meet facial hair standards if respirators are required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous heavy equipment experience (bobcats, excavators, etc.)
• Previous environmental and/or industrial experience (e.g., site remediation, spill response, hydro blasting, vacuum truck, tank cleaning, refinery-based work)
• Commercial driver’s license

Schedule

• Average 8–10+ hour workday
• Overtime after 40 hours
• Must be available for emergency response/project work that may require out-of-town travel for up to 2 weeks at a time (hotel and per diem provided)
• On-call responsibilities

New hires are required to attend a two-week paid Academy training out of state (expenses covered by the company).

Pay

$30–32+ per hour
