Field Service Foreman

Clean Harbors in Saginaw, MI is seeking a Field Service Foreperson to join our safety-conscious team.

About the role

This position will directly supervise Field Technicians. Responsibilities include emergency response (spill cleanup), hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation (tank and pit cleaning), equipment decontamination, and handling hazardous materials. New hires must attend a two-week paid Academy training out of state, with expenses covered by the company.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting safely
• Train and mentor Field Service Technicians
• Execute projects/jobs within budget and on time
• Enforce OSHA, EPA, and Health & Safety standards or regulations
• Communicate manpower, equipment, and resources required for field service and emergency response projects
• Manage large-scale field service and emergency response projects when directed
• Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects
• Operate light and heavy equipment, hand tools, and powered industrial tools
• Wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and skin/face/hand/foot protection
• Work in various temperatures, weather conditions, and atmospheres with potential exposure to hazardous, toxic, or corrosive agents
• Work in elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and at heights (ladders, scaffolding)
• Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters
• Climb ladders, scaffolding, and enter/exit trucks, tanks, and containers
• Work extended hours (> 8 hrs.) and attend compliance/safety meetings
• Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance
• Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste
• Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling
• Complete associated paperwork (worksheets, inspections, permits)
• Follow local, state, and federal compliance regulations
• Safely operate vehicles per U.S. DOT and other regulatory requirements
• Observe corporate operating guidelines and environmental health/safety procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis (every other week)
• Perform site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handle hazardous materials
• May perform lead responsibilities

Requirements

• Previous experience in a physically intensive role
• Previous supervisory, crew lead, or leadership experience
• Ability to travel for extended periods (up to 2 weeks at a time, with hotel and per diem provided)
• Ability to be on-call for emergency response
• Valid Driver’s license
• Must pass a background check, drug test, and physical
• Per OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard, must meet facial hair standards for respirator use

Preferred Qualifications

• Heavy equipment experience (bobcats, excavators, etc.)
• Environmental and/or industrial experience (site remediation, spill response, hydro blasting, vacuum truck, tank cleaning, refinery-based work)
• Commercial driver’s license

Schedule

• Average 8–10+ hour workday
• Overtime after 40 hours
• Must be available for emergency response/project work requiring out-of-town travel (up to 2 weeks at a time)
• On-call responsibilities

Pay

The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this role. Final compensation may vary based on location, experience, skills, and business needs. Some roles may be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
