Field Service Engineer - Solar

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical authority on solar hardware, offering expert guidance to internal teams, contractors, and customers.
  • Train and mentor contractors on the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of solar products.
  • Develop, update, and manage technical documentation, including installation manuals, datasheets, and other technical documentation as required.
  • Provide timely and effective technical support to customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to solar products.
  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers of electrical equipment to ensure compatibility and optimal performance of solar products.
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback and product performance data to contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current on industry trends, standards, and competitive product landscape to inform product development and support strategies.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in field service engineering for solar or related systems such as batteries.
  • Strong understanding of solar equipment, system design, and installation best practices.
  • Experience in solar and roofing is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of solar and electrical code and compliance.
  • Proven experience in technical documentation and customer support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with contractors and suppliers.
  • Equally comfortable giving a presentation in an office or working with a crew on a jobsite.
  • Familiar and comfortable with safely working at heights.
  • Advanced analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems/trouble shooting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel (25-50%).
