Progressive Machine & Design, LLC Apply for this Position Posted on 08/25/2026 Location Victor, NY Description Description PMD is launching a brand-new Service Department in Victor, NY, and we’re looking for hands-on Field Service Engineers to help shape it. You’ll be part of the core team building the service business, working directly with engineering, and supporting custom automation systems deployed around the world. Relocation Assistance may be available for qualified candidates. COMPENSATION $40 – $50/hr, based on experienceOvertime opportunities10% pay premium while travelling + per diem Major Duties & Responsibilities WHAT YOU’LL DO You’ll split your time between the shop and the field, giving you a balance of hands-on build, debug, and controls work and real-world system and service support at customer sites. Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service supportWork alongside engineering and build teams to assemble, debug, and validate custom automation systemsTroubleshoot and optimize electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control systemsModify and support PLC, HMI, robotics, motion, and vision systemsSupport Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)Respond to service calls (remote and onsite) to keep our customers running TECHNICAL SCOPE You should be comfortable working across multiple systems and stepping in wherever needed: Controls & Automation PLC/HMI platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) Industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus) Robotics & Vision Industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA) Vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) Systems Integration Electrical troubleshooting, panel systems, and field wiring Pneumatics and mechanical systems Integration of peripherals and custom equipment WHY THIS ROLE Build something from the ground up – direct influence on a growing service organizationHigh-impact work – solve real problems on complex, custom systemsTechnical ownership – trusted to make decisions and drive solutionsVariety – different machines, industries, and challengesGrowth path – opportunity to be instrumental and influential in the growth of the service business Minimum Skills & Abilities equirements WHAT YOU WILL BRING 5+ years of experience in automation, controls, or field service (OEM experience preferred)Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex machine/system issues independentlyStrong working knowledge of PLCs, robotics, and industrial automation systemsComfortable in customer-facing environments and high-pressure situationsWillingness to travel (~40%) Additional travel opportunities are available for those who prefer a higher percentage of field work.
