About the role
EFI is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team in the Cincinnati, OH area as a telecommuter. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and installing EFI industrial inkjet printers at customer sites, providing initial and ongoing customer training, and performing on-site troubleshooting and repairs.
Responsibilities
- Un-crating EFI industrial inkjet printers and related components
- Checking electrical power and compressed air
- Working with a Certified Electrician to perform initial setup and adjustment
- Thoroughly testing the printer to ensure it meets factory standards
- Providing initial and on-going formal customer operator and printer maintenance training
- Coordinating customer training based on individual needs
- Assessing customer training needs and making recommendations for additional training
- Providing periodic on-site troubleshooting and repairs for complex electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic issues
- Reporting detailed technical feedback through EFI Inkjet Case Management System (CMS)
- Traveling up to 75% of the workweek to meet customer needs
Requirements
- Minimum two-year technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, digital, and electronic technology
- Minimum two years in field engineering positions servicing complex electro-mechanical devices and high demand customer locations
- Demonstrated customer management skills and strong commitment to customer satisfaction
- Ability to independently manage a large service territory, including asset management (parts, tools, company information)
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the component level
- Demonstrated ability to provide telephone technical support and communicate effectively (telephone and email) with Product Service Engineers (Hardware and Applications)
- Working knowledge of RIPS, color theory, Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, and basic networking protocols
- Working knowledge of materials and chemicals used in the printing industry (highly desirable)
- In-depth knowledge of personal computers, industrial inkjet printers, large format printers, and/or presses and printing applications
- Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, including using critical alignment tools and holding tolerances of .001"
- Frequent lifting of up to 70lbs
- Ability to work within tight spaces, crawl on hard concrete floors, and physically contort to access components
