Field Sample Technician - Eurofins Drinking Water and Wastewater - Orlando (Altamonte Springs), FL
About the role
Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) is seeking a Field Technician to assist with routine and non-routine sampling, monitoring, and data collection activities in support of environmental monitoring programs and client service requests.
Responsibilities
- Collects, documents, packages, and ships samples in accordance with appropriate project specific sampling and analysis protocols.
- Performs sampling of hazardous and non-hazardous environmental samples.
- Plans and completes daily assigned route in accordance with priorities.
- Notifies supervisor of any changes to plan.
- Prepares and delivers sample containers/materials to various clients in support of their account.
- Regularly transports, sets up, utilizes, troubleshoots and breaks down sample collection/monitoring equipment in support of assigned projects/customer accounts.
- Communicates directly with customers providing clear and accurate information concerning their sample collection timeline and access requirements.
- Communicates with supervisor and main laboratory, routinely sending timeline and sample/project updates throughout assigned daily route.
- Performs miscellaneous on-site testing when required, records all data, and completes/submit all required sample documents.
- Transports samples from the field back to the laboratory, maintaining accurate sample custody documentation, occasionally links up with other technicians mid-route to facilitate sample transport and supply exchanges.
- Drives safely and observes all traffic laws. Maintains assigned vehicle according to company expectations for cleanliness and maintenance.
- Observes all OSHA safety requirements while adhering to the company health and safety policies; does not enter any confined space(s) without direct approval from upper management.
- Fills out and maintains documentation/records related to field sampling activity. Documents all data as required by the method performed and maintains logbook records in a complete and ethical manner.
- Performs tasks in accordance with schedules set by Supervisor.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of field equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks on all applicable instrumentation.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- A working knowledge on the use and maintenance of monitoring well equipment including but not limited to, ready flow pumps, peristaltic pumps, and proactive pumps.
- Must be able to navigate using vehicle GPS, roadmaps, and written directions.
- Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills. Able to work with Laboratory Information Management System.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, customer service oriented; internal and external customers.
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as be able to lift 60+ pounds.
- Strong time management skills. Able to adapt and shift priorities as needs of the business evolve.
- Detail oriented with ability to learn new techniques, multi-task, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company standard operating policies.
- Experience with technical field equipment including, but not limited to, field measurement meters, well pumps, auto samplers, and tablets/software programs.
Requirements
- Basic Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, or earth sciences. 2 years' experience is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and possess a clean driving record.
Additional Information
- Requirements: Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
- Position is full-time Monday - Friday (8:00am – 5:00pm).
