About the role
The Field Sales Trainer is responsible for driving sales effectiveness across Abbott’s U.S. Cardiometabolic Sales Organization by identifying, developing, and delivering product, market, and sales skills training programs that support achievement of commercial objectives. This field-based, remote role partners closely with sales leadership and representatives to enhance capabilities through classroom, virtual, and on-the-job coaching, ensuring consistent execution of sales strategies and customer engagement excellence. The position serves as a key contributor to the development of new hire onboarding, ongoing training initiatives, and field coaching programs that build a high-performing sales organization and support continued business growth.
Location: Field-Based (Remote)
Travel: 50%+
Responsibilities
- Achievement of Sales Training objectives, goals, strategies and measures.
- Identification, authorship and implementation of assigned product and sales skill training for new hires and sales team members, including product modules, sales aid annotations, case studies, etc. supporting Division selling brands.
- Create and follow a developmental plan leading to positions of greater responsibility.
- Able to teach all components of UPD and apply them to training materials.
- Create training materials addressing key competitive threats while maintaining current workload.
- Ability to plan, organize and facilitate a training class.
- Knowledge of assigned products, markets and customers to ensure that effective training programs are identified, developed and implemented.
- Accountable for achieving annual goals.
- Annual review and updating of assigned training materials to reflect current priorities and strategies.
- Able to identify and audit success vs key learning objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or science-related fields.
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or life sciences sales experience.
- Demonstrated track record of strong sales performance and coaching effectiveness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of sales training, field coaching, learning and development, or sales leadership experience.
- Ability to serve as an effective member of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to learn, understand and train highly technical concepts to sales team members.
- Proficient in computer applications as needed by the position and to support field sales applications.
- Experienced in adult learning principles and able to apply them for classroom and sales meeting training.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in group presentation skills for the classroom and sales meetings.
- Demonstrated effective written communications.

Pay
The base pay for this position is $86,700.00 – $173,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
