Field Sales Engineer - Interconnects

About the role
We are seeking a results-driven Field Sales Engineer to drive revenue growth by combining technical expertise with consultative selling. The role focuses on developing new business and managing customer relationships across a defined territory, promoting interconnect and electrical/electronic solutions. The Field Sales Engineer will act as the primary technical resource for customers, delivering application guidance, product demonstrations, and tailored solutions to meet client needs and achieve sales targets.
Responsibilities
- Interface with external customers and internal product development, product marketing, and application teams.
- Sell and promote all company products within an assigned territory and defined accounts, either through original equipment manufacturers (OEM customers) and/or distributors, via successful design win activities and total channel management.
- Devise strategies to differentiate our products and solutions from competitors.
- Broaden customer base and increase penetration at existing accounts, including key global accounts.
- Provide sales leadership and work closely with Field Applications Engineers and Business Units.
- Promote and sell products with established customers and develop new prospects.
- Identify all interconnect opportunities/applications of company products for clients and work with customers' engineering teams to design in new products.
- Develop and implement sales plans and growth strategies for territory and customers.
- Meet and exceed strategic objectives and established sales quotas via new design wins and management of the entire sales channel.
- Motivate existing and potential customers to increase product content on designs.
- Support technical aspects of the sales cycle, including marketing support for the development and implementation of company products.
- Provide customer service to solve complex interconnect problems and technical inquiries.
- Track orders and revenue by customer.
- Build rapport and provide customer support by supplying information related to samples, delivery dates, part drawings and specifications, quality issues, credit issues, etc.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the market and competition in your territory.
- Keep informed of new products and other general information of interest to customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related technical discipline; equivalent technical experience considered.
- 3+ years of field sales, technical sales, or applications engineering experience in interconnects, electrical, or electronics industries, with a proven track record of meeting sales targets.
- Demonstrated experience in business development, solution selling, and managing complex customer relationships.
- Strong technical knowledge of interconnects, connectors, cables, and related electronic and electrical components; experience with applications and system-level integration preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in the field with frequent travel to customer sites.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office suite; experience creating proposals and technical documentation.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to translate customer needs into viable solutions.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
Pay
Base salary: $90,000–$170,000 (DOE) plus annual bonus incentive program.
