Field Safety Technician

This position is located in the field at the project site. Must be willing and able to commute to the project site daily.

About the role

CoVolt Power is searching for a Craft Safety professional for solar energy projects. The role acts as an advocate for Signal Energy, LLC by promoting company culture, policies, and procedures while maintaining a positive attitude toward project goals. The position requires professional representation with clients, subcontractors, local officials, and others.

Responsibilities

• Assist crew members with completing daily paperwork, including job safety analysis, work instructions (WI’s), and permit-to-work forms and inspections.
• Complete and document weekly job site audits.
• Audit and assist with management of spill kits, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, barricades, power tool inspections, electrical inspections, generators, and wheel chocks.
• Assist with issuing and distributing PPE to crews as needed.
• Exercise stop-work authority by partnering with front-line supervisors when necessary.
• Facilitate site-specific trainings, including orientations and safety trainings.
• Assist the Safety Team in delivering Toolbox Talks and bend-and-stretch sessions.
• Learn work installation processes and actively engage with crew members to promote safety culture.
• Work with the Safety Manager, Project Manager, and Construction Manager to ensure field safety program needs are addressed.
• Continuously assess the safety of work performed, track corrective actions, and ensure compliance with Signal Energy’s Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Champion the ALLSAFE cultural safety program and Signal Energy’s Core Principles and Mission.
• Assist the Site Safety Manager in developing and maintaining a site-specific safety plan, including emergency action, response, evacuation, and security plans.
• Solve problems and resolve issues through face-to-face and personal communication.
• Perform all other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• OSHA 30 certification (minimum). OSHA 510 / OSHA 500 preferred but not required.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of construction safety experience preferred.

Skills

• Ability to learn technical and safety management aspects of construction activities.
• Excellent mathematical skills, including application and problem-solving.
• Understanding, interpretation, and application of regulatory requirements (e.g., Federal and State OSHA, EPA).
• Ability to lead, influence, and coordinate actions while managing time effectively.
• Highly motivated with the ability to work independently under limited supervision.
• Strong problem sensitivity, coordination, time management, active listening, verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly and independently.
• Computer literacy and basic knowledge of MS Office.

Physical Demands

• Mobility on and around construction sites.
• Ability to climb a 300’ ladder and work at height.
• Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
• Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold).
• Exposure to loud noises, dust, debris, and other construction-related hazards.
