About the role

The Respiratory Therapist Vent is a Field Clinician who delivers specialized respiratory care to ventilator dependent patients in home and alternate care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and apply advanced knowledge of respiratory equipment, ventilators, HME products, and related payer and regulatory guidelines
  • Perform clinical assessments and reassessments, including review of ventilator patient records, compliance data, and care plans; communicate findings and recommendations to physicians and referral sources
  • Participate in discharge planning and execution for highly technical and ventilator dependent patients, ensuring smooth transitions to the home setting
  • Demonstrate and instruct patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on ventilator units, supplies, and proper equipment use
  • Provide clinical follow up with physicians and referral sources regarding patient status and tolerance of therapy
  • Conduct clinical in-services for hospital staff, referral sources, and other professionals on equipment and clinically related topics
  • Adhere to all patient confidentiality, HIPAA, PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling requirements
  • Accurately and timely document all patient care activities, assessments, procedures, communications, and outcomes in accordance with company standards
  • Maintain complete and up to date patient records, including prescriptions, plans of care, treatment plans, delivery tickets, and required checklists
  • Ensure documentation supports quality tracking, data trending, reimbursement, authorizations (including ventilator referrals), and regulatory compliance
  • Utilize continuing education, in-services, and professional inquiry to maintain and expand role related competencies
  • Promote AdaptHealth through program development, operational support, educational coordination, and engagement with referral sources
  • Collaborate proactively with peers and interdisciplinary teams to resolve issues and optimize patient outcomes
  • Ensure accurate, clear, and timely verbal and written communication related to patient care and operational needs
  • Participate in on-call rotation during non-business hours in accordance with company policy
  • Complete all required compliance training and adhere to AdaptHealth’s Compliance Program
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an AMA-approved respiratory program
  • One (1) year of clinical experience as a Nurse with ventilator exposure, Healthcare Respiratory Therapist or HME Respiratory Therapist
  • Valid and unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in all states serviced by the branch
  • CPR certification
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license
