About the role

Kyowa Kirin is a fast-growing global specialty pharmaceutical company applying state-of-the-art biotechnologies to discover and deliver novel medicines in four disease areas: bone and mineral; intractable hematologic; hematology oncology; and rare disease. The Field Reimbursement Manager provides reimbursement and access support for patients prescribed a rare disease product, working from drug discovery to product development and commercialization. Reporting to the Director, Patient Access Solutions, the role collaborates with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, patients, caregivers, and therapy partners to prevent and address barriers to patient access and reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate care for patients and caregivers accessing a rare disease product by working with healthcare providers to ensure access
  • Conduct in-person meetings with patients, healthcare providers, and office staff to discuss product-specific coverage and reimbursement, alternative insurance options, and information to aid continued access
  • Provide education and assistance on general reimbursement processes to help healthcare providers obtain reimbursement for their patients
  • Maintain patient and provider education throughout the treatment journey to ensure adherence to prescribed treatment schedules
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on reimbursement topics related to rare disease therapy
  • Provide expertise on billing, reimbursement, and procurement options and troubleshoot coverage hurdles with office staff
  • Support Kyowa Kirin’s Patient Services, Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Legal/Compliance, and Medical teams as needed
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders across Kyowa Kirin’s Commercial team
  • Attend meetings and represent Kyowa Kirin at industry conferences as needed
  • Attend company-sponsored and external customer meetings when requested
  • Demonstrate expertise in regionally based plans/policies as well as nationally and government-funded plans
  • Understand company-based and external alternative co-pay and financial support programs, 501c3 organizations, and advocacy groups

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Market Access and/or Patient Services role with extensive prior knowledge in patient access and reimbursement required

Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • 3+ years of informal leadership experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry required; product launch experience a plus
  • Rare disease and specialty products experience preferred
  • Highly patient-focused with exceptional enthusiasm and drive to succeed
  • Demonstrated track record of professional growth
  • Ability to strategically think and tactically execute on patient and departmental objectives
  • Ability to collaborate, educate, and lead peers while working cohesively within a team environment (office and field-based)

Physical Demands

Field-based role with normal office environment requiring prolonged sitting and extensive computer work.

Travel

Requires up to 80% domestic and international travel.

Pay

Annualized base salary ranges from $150,000–$185,000, plus annual bonus eligibility; actual salaries will vary and may be above or below this range based on experience, education, training, and merit.

Schedule

This position is eligible for a company car through the Company’s FLEET program.
