Field Project Manager (Superintendent)

About the role

The Field Project Manager (Superintendent) will oversee all on-site project operations, ensuring projects are executed with a focus on safety, schedule, budget, and site plans. This role requires a detail-oriented leader with strong time management skills and a “lead from the front” attitude. You will coordinate a diverse team of craft employees, including equipment operators, laborers, subcontractors, and mechanics. Candidates must be open to sustained project-based travel within the U.S. (at least 80% of the time) and can reside anywhere in the country. ENTACT provides a per diem/living allowance and paid monthly trips home.

HAZWOPER training is highly preferred but not required. A valid Driver’s license with no restrictions is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all personnel comply with ENTACT safety standards and programs.
• Implement and maintain project plans with a focus on quality.
• Maintain effective schedule and cost control methods.
• Plan and coordinate work two weeks in advance.
• Lead on-site meetings with project staff, subcontractors, and clients.
• Maintain accurate daily field reports, schedule updates, and email correspondence.
• Communicate effectively with craft employees, clients, and ENTACT management.
• Respond to site changes and challenges in a timely manner.
• Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.

• Understanding of written documentation, including plans, specifications, budgets, safety policies, and HR policies.
• Interpretation of project plans, scaling, and specifications.
• Mathematical conversions: slopes, cubic yards, square footage, density, tonnage.

• Sitting for extended periods; occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, or pull objects.
• Close visual acuity for viewing computers, reading, preparing data, and analyzing figures.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, business periodicals, and government regulations.

• Capability to work under physical stress (heat/cold) during various weather conditions and potentially long workdays.
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders to work from elevated platforms and grip handrails/ladder rungs with both hands.
• Normal sense of smell; ability to don personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators (clean-shaven required).
• Ability to work in loud/noisy environments and match/detect color differences (including shades/brightness).
• Ability to see peripheral movement while focusing forward and hear the direction of sounds.

• Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Environmental & Atmospheric Conditions

• Outdoor construction sites and onsite office spaces with rugged, difficult-to-navigate terrain.
• Confined spaces and hot environments.
• Noisy work environments controlled to safe exposure limits.
• Exposure to contaminated atmospheres (e.g., fumes, vapors, lead dust, H₂S) controlled to safe levels.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Hard hat, hearing protection (ear plugs/muffs), eye protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shields).
• Welders helmet, safety vest, various gloves (leather, Nitrile, latex), steel-toe boots.
• Respiratory protection (dust masks, half/full-face respirators, SCBAs, APRs) as required by site conditions.
• Protective coveralls (cotton, Tyvek, fire-retardant, chemical-protective).
