Field Operations Supervisor

Pay Range: $33.16 - $37.49/hr ($68,981 - $77,979 annual compensation). Closing date: Friday, August 7, 2026.

About the role

The City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department is seeking a Field Operations Supervisor for Pecan Valley Golf Course, a 36-hole complex featuring the River Course and the Hills Course, along with a driving range. Located in southwest Fort Worth adjacent to Benbrook Lake, Pecan Valley is considered one of the best courses in Tarrant County.

Schedule

Varies. Ability to work a nontraditional schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of subordinate personnel responsible for construction, maintenance, repair, and operational activities for golf course operations; evaluate work accomplished and analyze effectiveness and efficiency.
• Supervise scheduled preventative maintenance programs for equipment, turfgrass, and facilities; review daily reports related to work performed; maintain records of time, material, and equipment used.
• Select, train, motivate, and evaluate golf course operations personnel; provide or coordinate employee training; address deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
• Participate in departmental and divisional meetings; prepare the annual operating budget for golf course maintenance, including supporting documentation.
• Monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness of assigned golf operations; work on continuous improvement of services.
• Supervise mechanical and electrical maintenance on golf facilities and equipment; maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and chemicals.
• Prepare daily and administrative reports pertaining to policy and procedures of golf course operations.
• Provide and participate in construction, repair, and maintenance services for golf course operations.
• Prescribe correct applications of fertilizers and pesticides; manage turf and plant materials; supervise planting, transplanting, and removal of plant materials. Maintain accurate records of all chemical applications as required by state and local law.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operations and services.
• Four (4) years of related experience.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License.
• Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) membership.
• Valid Texas Class C driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5) or more years in verifiable golf course maintenance activities.
• Prior Head Golf Course Superintendent experience.
• Experience with warm season grasses (e.g., Tif-Dwarf Bermuda, TifTuf, 419 Bermuda, Champions, or Tif-eagle).
• Grow-in experience.
• GCSAA Class A Superintendent certification.
• Previous experience overseeing a multi-course maintenance operation.

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises.
• Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
