About the Role
The Field Operations Manager is responsible for the performance, development, accountability, readiness, and overall employee experience of assigned F6 field personnel. This hybrid people-and-technical leadership role requires an experienced leader who understands technical field-service environments and can translate business requirements into clear expectations for the workforce.
Responsibilities
- Own people outcomes, partnering with Project Managers (who own project outcomes) and Site Leads (who own daily field execution) to ensure F6 has the right people, with the right capabilities, deployed to the right work and performing to established expectations.
- Manage performance, coaching, disciplinary actions, hiring, employee development, career progression, workforce planning, retention, culture, policy compliance, and leadership development.
- Understand F6's business model and how workforce decisions affect safety, quality, customer experience, productivity, labor utilization, travel cost, and profitability.
- Conduct regular employee check-ins, performance discussions, and formal reviews, gathering feedback from stakeholders to recognize high performers and address performance concerns.
- Partner with HR on disciplinary actions, final warnings, and termination recommendations, ensuring consistent application of performance standards.
- Support hiring, interviewing, and workforce quality by assessing technical aptitude, leadership capability, and culture fit, and ensuring hiring decisions reflect F6's field requirements.
- Maintain technician development and career progression, identifying skill gaps, creating development plans, and supporting competency-based advancement.
- Conduct talent calibration and succession planning, identifying high performers, future leaders, and employees requiring coaching or intervention.
- Manage and develop Site Leads, coaching them on workforce leadership, accountability, and performance management.
- Partner with Project Managers on workforce planning, staffing, and deployment, balancing manpower across projects and anticipating staffing shortages.
- Maintain employee relations, engagement, and retention by addressing concerns, monitoring morale, and supporting employees through changes.
- Reinforce F6's culture and leadership standards, modeling accountability, professionalism, and solutions-oriented leadership.
- Partner with Project Managers and OEM Program Managers to ensure workforce capability meets project and program requirements.
- Ensure safety, policy, and compliance by reinforcing safety expectations, supporting incident investigations, and addressing recurring unsafe behaviors.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading technical field-service personnel in HVAC, mechanical systems, commissioning, data centers, industrial equipment, critical infrastructure, or a comparable technical environment.
- Strong technical leadership and people-management capability, with data center experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to understand F6's project-based field-service business model and how people decisions affect project execution and business performance.
