About the Role
As the Field Operations Manager, you will lead, coordinate, train, and oversee the Field Operations Specialist team. You will travel throughout Arizona, California, Nevada, and beyond to conduct comprehensive equipment assessments, analyzing detailed specifications and uncovering unique features of heavy machinery, vehicles, trucks, and trailers through compelling visual documentation and videos. You will collaborate closely with District Sales Directors and your team to ensure precise documentation, meticulous listings, and seamless communication.
This role involves mentoring teammates, coaching when needed, and ensuring departmental goals are met. You will also perform the duties of a Field Operations Specialist when necessary. Field Operations Specialists travel throughout a region gathering information and documentation needed from sellers before their equipment is sold on www.purplewave.com, including completing listing sheets, taking photos and/or videos, and obtaining service records, titles, etc.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and implement field support procedures for maximum efficiency and cost containment.
- Travel within the assigned region to meet with employees, clients, and attend industry events.
- Attend meetings at Manhattan, KS headquarters quarterly or more often if business needs require.
- Ensure field staff and customers are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and service, including daily support with technology issues, scheduling, dashboard upkeep, and coaching on making items "auction-ready."
- Stay abreast of upcoming projects to ensure effectiveness and coverage through daily District sales calls and coordination with the sales team on Field Ops updates and collaboration opportunities.
- Work within the operations management team to standardize processes and drive continuous improvements across the department.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of internal systems and understand the impact of system and process changes.
- Visit event locations, assisting with the planning and preparation of large projects, and conduct 2-day FOS ride-alongs (at a minimum of once every 2 months per FOS).
- Review Field Operations Specialist-created equipment listings prior to or immediately upon upload to PurpleWave.com to ensure a consistent, quality listing is presented to the public, including daily review of submitted DCs for image quality, form accuracy, and APF accuracy.
- Create and maintain standardized training materials, documentation, and guides.
- Attend local events such as fairs and trade shows to act as a Purple Wave Brand Ambassador, utilizing Smartsheet to identify relevant events.
- Project management at remote locations, coordinating with multiple departments and field staff, including coordination with the sales team for Open Houses as needed.
- Monitor operational expenses by helping FOS make scheduling decisions, monitoring RAMP for unapproved charges, and reviewing Motus for proper truck mileage tracking.
- Work with FOS Logistics Coordinator on daily scheduling to task FOS effectively and review dashboards to ensure timely DC.
- Assist FOS on high-value packages as needed.
- Undertake additional assigned duties as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Structure, hire, lead, coach, train, and develop Field Operation Specialist staff for maximum effectiveness.
- Prepare and lead monthly regional FOS meetings and conduct 1-on-1s through 90.io twice per month plus weekly phone call check-ins.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of equipment experience.
- Proven experience in a managerial role, preferably in an operations environment.
- Ability to draw from extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to listen to team members and incorporate their feedback.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both strategic and functional levels.
- Highly proficient with a broad set of common technology applications including spreadsheet applications (Excel, Google Docs), word-processing applications (Word, Google Docs), presentation applications (PowerPoint, Google Slides), and other productivity applications.
- Equipment industry experience, agriculture, construction, or internet auction background preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Spanish-speaking bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

- Requires the ability to satisfactorily complete a background check.
- Candidates must possess a valid state driver's license in compliance with the laws and regulations of the relevant jurisdiction.
Not Required: Bid calling skills and auction experience.
Working Settings
- Full-time Salaried Exempt, not eligible for overtime.
- Flexibility in schedule and ability to work outside of standard business hours.
- Required to live in the assigned region or have the ability or willingness to relocate to the area within a defined time as agreed upon during the hiring process.
- In-person training will be required at the Purple Wave Headquarters in Manhattan, KS.
- Expected to travel up to 75% of the time.
- This position is physically demanding and requires regular climbing, lifting, and physical exertion. The Field Operation Manager will be required to climb on, over, and under heavy equipment and vehicles, and lift and move equipment and parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Pay
The salary varies based on experience and qualifications, but typically ranges from $80,000 to $110,000 per year.
Monthly Bonus Program - determined by the Company’s monthly revenue result and are paid on a “percent to plan” payout formula (90% = $300, 100% = $600, 110% = $900, 120% = $1,200).
