The Cardiology Field Medical Director provides clinical expertise in reviewing cardiology cases to ensure appropriate utilization and compliance with guidelines. This role involves serving as a specialty reviewer for complex cases, offering clinical rationale for appeals, engaging in peer-to-peer discussions with providers, and documenting communications accurately.
The position includes collaborating with leadership, supporting ongoing training, and potentially acting as Medical Director for specific health plans or regions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a specialty reviewer for complex cardiology cases.
- Provide clinical rationale for appeals and denials.
- Engage in peer-to-peer discussions with healthcare providers.
- Document communications and case reviews accurately.
- Collaborate with leadership and support ongoing training initiatives.
- Potentially act as Medical Director for specific health plans or regions.
Requirements
- MD, DO, or MBBS degree.
- Current unrestricted medical license.
- Active Board Certification in Cardiology or a related field.
- At least five years of cardiology practice experience (preferred).
- Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Clean legal and professional record.

Pay
$120–$135 per hour.
