Responsibilities
- Fleet maintenance management
- Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on all equipment
- Troubleshoot and/or determine if repairs will be done in the field, Wanzek’s shop, a dealership or other method
- Travel to jobsites for repairs, inspections, review field maintenance to ensure it is done properly, review maintenance reports
- Onsite field repairs/troubleshooting
- Update the equipment locator list and update equipment and tool inventory
- Develop and maintain an equipment maintenance tracking database
- Maintain proper record keeping
- Operate equipment to diagnose problems and inspect equipment for defects
- Ensure all equipment has an equipment ID (logo, unit numbers, digital photos)
- Verify USDOT annual inspections in trucks and on file in office
- Ensure equipment safety (i.e. backup alarms, lights, seat belts, fire extinguishers, rigging, etc.)
- Show expertise in all basic and complex machines, including crane safety (anti two blocks, rigging, crane maintenance daily log book/annual inspection, etc.); investigate or question others to ensure logs and two blocks are correct, etc.
- Occasionally travel to jobsites for repairs, inspections, review field maintenance to ensure it is done properly and review maintenance reports
- Review with operators and superintendent’s maintenance records and major repairs in order for crews to be self-sufficient and responsible for their own maintenance
- Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards
- Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair
- Effectively communicate to obtain needed parts
- Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order
- Road test vehicles when required
- Identify machinery defects or malfunctions and complete repair
- Keep shop area neat and clean
- Maintain and accountable for all shop tools and manuals be returned to the proper place and in the same condition as received
- Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Report any safety issues immediately to management
Qualifications
- One-year certificate from college or technical school in Diesel or Automotive Technology and two or more years relevant experience
- One or more of the following certifications: Electrical diagnostics and repair cert, A/C system diagnostics and repair cert, Welding Certification, OEM certification (JD Tech, CAT Tech, Case IH Tech, Komatsu Tech, Ford, Kenworth, Liebherr)
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles
- Qualified to drive the 1-ton rig on site and from project to project
- Ability to Diagnose complex problems in systems including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical
- Ability to Supervise and coordinate the work of a 3rd party mechanic
- Ability to track and maintain records of completed work and update status of open work orders
- Qualified to drive the 1-ton rig on site and from project to project
- Minimum level of rework
- High level of efficiency. 80% of efficiency or higher
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to go above and beyond
