Salary: $48,000 - $53,270 per year

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree in business or a related field, AND two (2) years of intermediate level clerical work experience.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid PA driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with the election process and prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Must successfully pass a background check, including verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, prior to final offer of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and lease polling places.
  • Ensure polling places have the appropriate furniture, restroom facilities, and are universally accessible.
  • Notify voters and the Board of Elections when polling places change.
  • Arrange, in conjunction with the Manager of Voting Machines, for voting machine delivery.
  • Ensure that staff are present when related supplies are delivered to polling locations.
  • Update and maintain a database containing all polling places: e.g., descriptions, contact information, and lease fee payments.
  • Prepare bids for transporting voting machines.
  • Send correspondence to polling places regarding dates of elections and deliveries.
  • Handle non-routine inquiries and participate in other special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Pennsylvania voter services system(s).
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Accessibility compliance.
  • Election management software.
  • GIS mapping software.
  • Election procedures.
  • Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Conflict resolution.
  • Represent the County in a professional manner at all times.
  • Manage and resolve conflicting priorities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Understand polling place locations and voting machine processes.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Be self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Be team-oriented and skilled working within a collaborative environment.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Use a pallet jack.
  • Travel within Allegheny County as required.
  • Drive a conversion van or large SUV.
  • Work overtime during election cycles.
  • Meet strict deadlines.

Additional Information

  • Residency in Allegheny County required within 1 year.
  • Veterans' Preference will be awarded to eligible candidates.
