About the role

This is the entry-level classification into the appraiser job series. Incumbents are responsible for collecting data and preparing reports under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Inspect subject properties, neighborhoods, and markets
• Research factual data respecting individual properties, neighborhoods, and markets
• Research sale and rental transactions
• Data entry into the computer system to maintain accurate listings
• Prepare reports
• Collect data through physical surveying of residential and commercial properties
• Interview residents as needed to confirm the condition of individual properties

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Construction, vertical drafting, appraisal trainee or related class, and/or real estate experience preferred
• Preparatory appraisal coursework related to measuring/listing structures and data collection for appraisals is ideal
• Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle required (mileage will be reimbursed)

Physical Requirements

• Physically able to operate automated office machinery (computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers, tape recorders, digital cameras, telephones, etc.)
• Able to move or carry job-related objects or materials up to 30 pounds in weight
• Physically capable of reaching to obtain books, printouts, file boxes, computer paper, etc.
• Legally and physically able to operate a motor vehicle
• Able to walk, climb, and negotiate without mechanical assistance around properties and construction sites
