About the role
The ND Department of Trust Lands has an opening for a Part-Time Temporary Field Inspector, working around 600 hours per year, mostly between April and October, on state trust lands, throughout North Dakota.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of outdoor land inspection duties on school trust land property.
- Inspect rights of way grass seedings, rights of way reclamation, oil well sites, noxious weed control, rangeland, cropland, hay land, gravel, scoria mines, and other inspections as needed.
- Navigate uneven terrain with loose soil and varied slopes by walking and using a vehicle, or an all-terrain vehicle (ATV/UTV).
- Use technology such as a hand-held GPS, tablet, smartphone, etc.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience with plant identification, soil, farming, ranching and natural resources.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the experience requirement.
- An understanding of land descriptions.
- The ability to use a tablet, smart phone, and handheld GPS.
- A valid North Dakota driver's license, and insurance.

- Have good verbal communication skills with the ability to professionally communicate with the public.

- Be comfortable driving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV/UTV).
- Be able to inspect land not accessible by a vehicle.
Skills

Benefits
Salary/Benefits: $21.00 per hour, non-benefited position.

Schedule
This position will work remotely from home, and on the state trust land throughout ND.
