About the role

Artheon is a trusted engineering and consulting firm offering services that rival large organizations while maintaining the personalized client relationships of a boutique firm. The Field Inspector will play a key role in overseeing the quality, safety, and compliance of various scopes of work on major infrastructure and transportation projects. This role ensures that all construction activities meet contract specifications, applicable codes, industry standards, and project requirements. The Senior Inspector works closely with contractors, engineers, project managers, and regulatory authorities to ensure successful project execution and timely resolution of technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors contractor operations and verifies conformance with project plans and specifications for civil/municipal components of the project.
  • Serves as the on-site inspector for construction work performed by the contractor and subcontractors.
  • Interacts with the construction contractor’s site supervision on field activities to ensure compliance with the construction contract requirements.
  • Prepares daily reports, correspondence, change orders, periodic payment estimates, and quantity computations.
  • Observes details of work performed by others, documenting results; obtaining photographic documentation of work performed.
  • Confirms compliance with technical documents and industry-specific standards and codes.
  • Reviews and downloads field data into laptop computer and transfers to company server.
  • Discusses projects with project team on a daily basis.
  • Makes accurate judgment-calls on a variety of construction field activities.
  • Performs other like duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering required.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction inspection.
  • Experience with Transportation/Infrastructure projects required.
  • Experience working with public agencies (i.e., Amtrak, MTA, Metro North, LIRR).
  • OSHA 30-hour safety course is required.
  • MTA Track Safety Certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Project Management tools (i.e., Procore, Asite).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Pay

The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
