Field Inspector-1
About The Role
The Field Inspector is responsible for providing support and conducting inspections and audits on contractor work sites for New York City Transit projects. Monitor nightly/daily construction civil activities to ensure the contractor is compliant with Boldyn construction drawings, engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions. Work with contractors and NYCT to empower spontaneous changes (within given guidelines) to maintain the fluidity of the project. Ensure project closure through the Punch list completion and acceptance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensure construction work complies with all construction drawings, engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
- Lead, direct, and provide guidance to the Field Inspection team.
- Maintain daily construction reports, including activities and quantities completed, quality issues, changes daily labor time sheets with cost codes, and red line drawings.
- Monitor installation of POE conduit/s and cabling is done as per drawing specifications daily (night shift or day shift).
- Aid Construction Managers and Field Supervisors on expediting subcontractors.
- Aid subcontractors in the field with any upcoming questions or issues.
- Ensure approved drawings and their approved revisions are utilized in the field as issued by the Engineering Manager.
- Continually find solutions to conflicts between drawings, field conditions, and specifications by conferring with the Design Engineers.
- Cook up coordination with the various sub-trades.
- Report accurate quantities for labor cost reports and accurately monitor material ledgers to determine if quantities remaining in the estimate are sufficient to complete the project in the field.
- Cook up inspection requests with Quality Manager, various cell phone carriers, and subcontractors as required.
- Inspect installation work for conformance with design drawings and specifications.
- Approve As-Builts of work completed using maintained red line drawings.
- Ensure work is conducted in accordance with Safety requirements and report any issues to the Boldyn Safety Manager.
- Communicate with on-site NYCT and Subcontractor representatives.
- Provide access to Boldyn Networks Base Station Hotels and supervision of subcontractors.
- Monitor Fiber splicing, OTDR and Throughput testing by contractors and prepare reports.
- Other duties as directed by the Project Manager.
- Prepare punch list and other checklists as required.
- Lead by example, promoting integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior among the Field Inspection team.
- Follow MTA and Boldyn incident reporting protocols.
- Communicate and coordinate with Boldyn safety team in a timely fashion.
